Singing Ringing Tree. Lancashire.
11th September 2007
I’m always on the lookout for interesting locations and that could mean natural features, megalithic stones, old ruins and occasional works of art.
I am in two minds about photographing artworks though as a straight record owes most of it’s effect to the work of the artist and not the photographer.
This work, by Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu, near Burnley, is part of the Panopticons project and is a sculpture that makes an eerie sound in the wind it’s exposed hill location.
For me it was the way it seemed to rise out of the ground like a strange mushroom that caught my eye and a low viewpoint seemed to emphasise that appearance.
I’m not sure this is the shot I want yet but I’ll certainly be visiting again.
