Landscape Photography

Awards

I don’t enter many photo competitions these days but I do like the Take a View  - Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards.

They attract some very high standard images and provide me with a benchmark for my own work.

Over the years I have been fortunate enough to have received a few awards and intend to continue to support the competition.

I was also awarded the Distinction of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain back in 1994. A lifetime award which is based on contributions to federation exhibitions and direct judging of submitted work by a panel of judges.

This was back in the days of film, chemistry and paper of course and there were a few other national and international awards back in those days too.

In many ways it was a different medium to digital photography and it required a considerable change in mindset and working practices but essentially it’s still just about seeing the picture and pointing the camera in the right direction at the right time. The rest is just technique.
